About Sony Starvis Rolling Shutter CMOS Camera Technology

Sony Starvis rolling shutter CMOS sensors offer high-sensitivity imaging performance. With Sony's back-illuminated sensor technology, outstanding dynamic range, color reproduction, and low noise can be achieved.

By applying the photo-sensitive surface on top of the metal wiring instead of the normal layout where light is blocked around the photodiode, a greater amount of light is able to reach the sensor. This type of system enhances the sensitivity of the camera by obtaining a greater level of light when imaging.
