Epsilon MODEL 3475 is a miniature extensometer that measures transverse or diametral strains on thin or small specimens.
It is a lightweight extensometer and can be used in conjunction with Model 3542 axial extensometers or Model 3442 miniature axial extensometers for determining Poisson’s ratio.
Self-supporting on the test sample, the Epsilon MODEL 3475 is used in the characterization of materials exhibiting anisotropic properties, such as composite materials.
An integral spring facilitates this extensometer to be clipped onto the sample so that the unit can be held in place. The device is adjustable to handle sample of different sizes, from 0 to 25mm width or diameter.
The arm thickness of the Epsilon MODEL 3475 is only 3.81mm. Axial extensometers that have sufficient clearance between arms can be used in tandem with the Epsilon MODEL 3475.
The unit is prevented from digging into the samples owing to large radius contacts. This model can be used in dynamic applications as it employs Epsilon’s dual flexure design. Measuring ranges of all of these units are in both directions.
As a strain gauged device, the Model 3475 extensometer shows compatibility with any electronics engineered for strain gauged transducers. It is often coupled to a test machine controller. For the Model 3475 extensometer, the signal conditioning electronics are typically integrated into the test machine controller or may often be included.
For systems having the required electronics, the extensometer is supplied with the appropriate connector and wiring for direct plugging into the electronics. Epsilon provides a range of solutions for units without the required electronics, connecting the extensometer output to charter recorders, data acquisition boards, or other devices.
The Epsilon MODEL 3475 is available in any combination of temperature range and measuring range. Epsilon also offers other configurations upon request. Connectors to interface to virtually all brands of test equipment are available as an option.
Key Features
The key features of the Epsilon MODEL 3475 include:
All standard units have linearity readings of 0.20% or better
All models will measure both negative and positive displacements
Full bridge, 350Ω strain gauged design for compatibility with nearly any test system
May be left on through failure of specimens
Includes high quality foam lined case
Self-supporting on the specimen
Rugged, dual flexure design for strength and improved performance
Easy to mount, with integral springs to keep the extensometer on the sample
Much stronger than single flexure designs, allowing cyclic testing at higher frequencies
3475-050M-ST with ±0.50 mm measuring range
Model 3475-050T-st with ±0.050 inch measuring range
Models 3475 and 3442 extensometers
