Deltech Furnace Control Systems

Each Deltech control system is Intertek-certified for UL508A compliance. Standard safety features comprise an emergency stop, safety relay, door interlocks, and isolation switches. Nema One enclosures are included as standard, featuring a side-hinged door for easy access to system components.

The Eurotherm 3504 autotuning programmable temperature controller is the standard option. Other controllers are available upon request. Users can access a free software program, ITools for the 3504.

When paired with a communications card (RS485, Modbus, TCP, etc.) and a purchased product key, it enables data logging. Stand-alone data loggers are also offered; they transmit a .csv file to the computer.

The utilization of power meters, which report voltage, amperage, and power consumption in a single compact unit for both single and three-phase systems, reduces the size of the required control cabinet in most instances.

Customized control systems can incorporate unique features tailored to the process, facilitated by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). For instance, a PLC can be used to create cascade control.

PLC/HMI (Human Machine Interface) combinations offer users a unified interface encompassing all furnace functions. The Engineering Manager can also provide further insight into these PLC/HMI combos:

In addition to the convenience of a single interface, they can show trending and record data, allowing the user to make plots of any recorded variables (e.g. temperature and setpoint vs. time). We provide them as a standard on any kilns with more than heating and a few events. Rotary kilns always have them because they need to be able to run the heating of multiple zones, lifting mechanism, rotation speed and direction, and dosing rate into the drum.

Other customers have us supply PLCs that allow them to view the furnace data on their plantwide software. They can make furnace control decisions from anywhere in their facility. The PLCs for this application have an isolation module. The module allows us to keep all of our furnace information on one network, and then the plant network is isolated from it. We are able to use any IP addressing and ladder structure we want, without interfering with the customer’s network.
