895 Professional PVC Thermomat for Automatic Determination of the Thermostability of PVC

The 895 Professional PVC Thermomat is used to determine the thermostability of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and associated copolymers automatically. The analysis system consists of eight measuring positions in two heating blocks.

The instrument’s current status and each specific measuring position are shown on the integrated display. The measurement start on the device is enabled by start buttons provided at each measuring position.

The use of dishwasher-safe accessories and practical disposable reaction vessels minimizes the cleaning effort, saving the associated time and costs and considerably improving the reproducibility and accuracy.

The StabNet software is essential for controlling the instrument, recording and evaluating the data, and for storing the data. All accessories required to perform determinations will be offered as part of the scope of the delivery.

With the 895 Professional PVC Thermomat, the thermostability of the chlorine-containing polymers is determined using the dehydrochlorination test (DHC), where the samples are exposed to higher temperatures in the PVC Thermomat and their stability time is measured.

The time taken for gaseous hydrogen chloride to be released from a sample is it's stability time. This method meets the requirements of the national and international standards. The presence of sophisticated, easy-to-use StabNet Software makes this method simple.

The PVC Thermomat complies with the ISO 182-3 standard, which discusses the procedure to assess the tendency of the PVC to release hydrochloride at higher temperatures.

Up to four PVC Thermostats can be coupled to a single PC in order to handle larger sample loads, enabling analysis of up to 32 samples simultaneously

The dehydrochlorination test method involves inducing the decomposition of samples to release gaseous HCl by subjecting them to elevated temperatures. An uninterrupted stream of nitrogen passing through the sample transports this HCl gas from the sample vessel to a vessel filled in with distilled water, whose conductivity is measured continuously. The emergence of HCl increases the conductivity in the vessel. The stability time is defined as the time at which a 50 µS/cm increase is attained in comparison with the starting of the measurement and this is a measure of thermostability.
