ZEISS Axioscan 7 for Petrographic Analysis

With the help of Axioscan 7 from ZEISS, it is possible for users to digitize their thin sections. It is a trustworthy and reproducible approach to making high-quality and digitized petrography data in transmitted and reflected light.

It has been specially developed for petrographic analysis, the Axioscan 7 integrates unique motorized polarization acquisition modes with unparalleled speed and a rich software ecosystem available for analysis, visualizationand collaboration.

It is a completely automated acquisition, equipped with ZEISS quality, which guarantees high image quality constantly, even while processing thousands of samples. Motorized plane and cross-polarization enable both pleochroism and birefringence to be examined, while circular polarization enables the quick evaluation of characteristic maximum birefringence irrespective of grain orientation.

Visualize Complex Digitized Petrographic Data

With the help of the new ZEN Pol Viewer display, users can go beyond the standard petrographic microscope to navigate the rich petrographic thin sections datasets. Also, it will automatically synchronize image rotation such that the sample emerges exactly as it would in a conventional petrographic light microscope.

This streamlines the learning process in teaching surroundings, in the laboratory and online, and makes a captivating petrographic experience.

Applications

ZEISS Axioscan 7 at Work

Multichannel acquisition of geological thin sections can be performed. Various forms of polarization illumination could be utilized to stress various features. Plane polarized light (PPL) displays entire crystal color, habitand pleochroism. Crossed polarized light (XPL) at multiple orientations enables extinction angle and birefringence to be evaluated.

Circular polarization enables optimum birefringence to be noted irrespective of grain orientation. All channels have been aligned with the help of strong computational algorithms during acquisition, thereby making the resulting data ideal for ensuing segmentation and analysis.
