Vert’s mission is to accelerate innovation in the world’s industries by making 2-3x more power available from compressed air, and by making work safer and more comfortable. The key to achieving this goal is very compact, highly powerful and quiet air compressors.
Timeline of Vert Technologies
Vert Technologies was formed in 2013 by Olly Dmitriev to develop conical screw compressor – a new type of gas compressor, where the male screw works inside the female screw, and not side-by-side as in traditional screw compressors. Vert developed its proprietary mathematical formula and software to generate conical screws profiles and filed a patent application.
In 2014, Vert produced first working prototype Mk3 with oil injection, using a combination of CNC milling and 3D-printing, and applied for another patent. It soon became clear that subcontract CNC manufacturing industry was not able to produce conical screws at the required level of precision, which delayed further progression of the company.
In 2015, to overcome the manufacturing challenge Vert Technologies purchases its first CNC machine and opened own factory in Edinburgh, Scotland. By the end of 2015, Vert developed its manufactured method and started producing both male and female rotors. The company won a contract with DSTL, UK Ministry of Defence, to develop a new low-vibration miniature compressor and cooling system for future satellites.
In 2016, Vert Technologiesdeveloped and tested a highly efficient oil-free water-injected screw compressor VERT.80. Vert expanded its factory, installed two more CNC machines and a temperature-controlled metrology lab with a CMM machine.
In 2017, Vert Technologiesdeveloped a new 0.8kW micro screw compressor VERT.8, which achieved 3x higher pressure in a single stage than the next smallest screw or piston compressors. Olly Dmitriev, together with the team won the title of Inventor of the Year in Scotland, and was recognised by The Manufacturer magazine as One of Top-100 figures in UK manufacturing.
In 2018, Vert developed “Storm” – a portable, low-noise, 300 psi compressor for mobile servicing, which only needs 12V car battery to run. This was a step-change innovation because before neither screw compressors could be used with 12V car battery, nor could they produce 300 psi pressure. The Storm was created to power pneumatic tools, and it offered a big difference to traditional very noisy piston compressors, which also need a diesel/petrol generator adding even more noise.
In 2018, Vert’s 0.8kW compressor VERT.8 achieved 50% better energy efficiency at 8 barg than scroll compressor of similar capacity.
In 2018, Vert developed and successfully launched the Nautilus – a new quiet “desktop” compressor for up to 300 psi pressure. Thanks to its futuristic design and quiet operaton the Nautilus is ideal for metrology labs, but in the same time it produces so much pressure it can drive high-specification applications.
