Minus K has a new low-frequency negative-stiffness isolator that is ultra compact, the LC-4. When selecting the LC-4, users can choose between two different set ups depending on their needs. There is the low horizontal frequency option, which can be used for frequencies of 1.5 Hz and 0.5 Hz vertical natural frequency. For users wanting to work with horizontal frequencies of 0.5 Hz and 0.5 Hz vertical natural frequency, there is the ultra low horizontal option.
The LC-4 can be used with weight loads of up to 130 lbs., and a minimum load of 15 lbs. If the user requires heavier loads than this, the devices can be used in combination as a multiple system. This is ideal for users with limited space because the devices remain compact and take up a small amount of space. The LC-4 is a passive isolator that can be manually-adjusted and doesn’t use air or electricity to function.
Users can personalize the LC-4 to meet criteria specific to their application, for example, someone working in a vacuum or cleanroom environment will need ensured compatibility, or changing between lower and higher vertical and horizontal frequencies or required damping.
Performance
When the vertical natural frequency is 1/2 Hz or lower can, all the range of the load can be successful. The natural frequency in the horizontal direction is determined by load. Natural frequencies with low horizontal frequency at 1 1/2 Hz or ultra low horizontal frequency at 1/2 Hz or smaller can be attained close to or on the nominal load. The transmissibility curves below illustrate the performance of a standard result with 1/2 Hz natural frequency.
