The TMA/SDTA 2+ is ideal for a wide variety of applications, offering a broad temperature range alongside a selection of force parameters in tension and compression modes. This flexibility allows the TMA/SDTA 2+ to provide information on the characteristics of numerous types of samples promptly. The analysis of large sample cylinders, fine fibers, thin layers, plates, films, single crystals and soft or hard polymers all fall within the unit’s range of capabilities.
TMA is the ideal companion to DSC. As well as the measurement of expansion coefficients, TMA is also a reliable technique for determining glass transitions that DSC is unable to satisfactorily measure, such as materials that have a high filler content. Additionally, the instrument’s penetration mode is also useful for characterizing the glass transitions of problematic samples such as very thin coatings.
SDTA Signal - Unsurpassed Temperature Accuracy
The TMA/SDTA 2+ is the only instrument on the market currently that can measure sample temperature at very close to the sample in all its operating modes. This unique feature enables reference substances (for example the melting points of pure metals), or a change in length, to be used to adjust the temperature.
One Click™ Technology
The instrument’s color, touch-sensitive terminal can present clear and precise information, as well as being easy to see from a distance. Predefined measuring methods can be started safely and effortlessly from behind the terminal, thanks to the unit’s patented One Click™ function.

TMA Automation
The innovative TMA sample robot enhances the efficiency and consistency of thermomechanical analysis (TMA) by automating various measurements such as expansion, delamination, foaming, sintering, sorption, and penetration. It features two removable trays with 10 sample positions each, enabling high-throughput

analysis with up to 20 samples. The robot uses patented sample holders made of Inconel and quartz for measurements up to 1,100 °C, or ceramic, which is suitable for high temperatures up to 1,600 °C. It includes a disposal area for continuous operation and safety checks via a light barrier.
