Stellenbosch Nanofiber Company

As the name suggests, the Stellenbosch Nanofiber Company has its roots in the historic town of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Here the original research that would lead to the development of SNC's high-throughput electrospinning technology platform was performed as part of a PhD project at Stellenbosch University.

With support from InnovUS, the university's technology transfer company, a spin-out company was established to focus on the commercialisation of the patented nanofiber production and processing technologies.

The Stellenbosch Nanofiber Company managed to secure funding from private and institutional investors, and was officially launched in November 2011.
