Silver Nanowires from Merck

Silver nanowires (AgNWs) are 1-dimensional silver-based nanostructures with a diameter of 60 nm and a length of 10 m. They can be synthesized by the reduction of silver nitrate (AgNO₃) in presence of silver bromide (AgBr). The arc discharge mechanism of immersed silver electrodes can also be used to prepare them.

AgNWs have outstanding electrical, optical, and mechanical properties, making them a good option for flexible electronics applications including solar cells and film heaters.

Silver nanowires have a wide range of conductive, optical, and anti-microbial applications, including touchscreen displays, medical imaging, and sterile clothing.
