In 1911, the Sailor Pen Company was established in Japan, introducing the fountain pen to the Japanese market. In 1949, the Sailor Pen Company began manufacturing fountain pens and their ink cartridges utilizing automatic injection molding machines. At this time the injection molding technology was unheard of in Japan. This was the starting point of the Sailor Robot.
