Robotic Testing System for Fully Automated Tensile Tests on Metal Specimen

The roboTest R (polar) robotic testing system from ZwickRoell is used for completely automated tensile tests on metal specimens (for instance, to ISO 6892) or tensile and flexure tests on plastic specimens (for instance, to ISO 178, ISO 527-2, or ASTM D638).

Description

Six-axis industrial robot is used to convey specimens

System can be integrated into materials testing machines from 5 to 2000 kN

Specimens up to 30 kg in weight can be examined

Variable magazine can contain up to 600 specimens (based on specimen dimensions)

More than a few materials testing machines can be used in a single system

roboTest R can also be used for specimen feed to other devices (For instance, colorimeters and pendulum impact testers)

An industrial controller having an autoEdition2 automation software regulates the system

For manual tests, the robot arm can be set into park position, making the materials testing machine reachable to operator

Optional extras comprise of a barcode reader, hardness, cross-section, and roughness measuring devices, spectral analysis, temperature chamber, etc.

Advantages and Features

Operator influences (off-center or angled specimen insertion, hand temperature/moisture, etc.) are excluded for excellent test result reproducibility

System permits for dependable documentation and statistical long-term monitoring

Machine can be used during idle times (night shifts and lunch breaks), which utilizes the total capacity and generates quicker results

Qualified laboratory staff are relieved of basic activities, freeing them for more multifaceted tasks

Testing system decreases the testing costs for each specimen and normally pays for itself in one to two years
