The Revetest® scratch tester is the industry standard for analyzing hard-coated materials with a coating thickness greater than 1 μm. The RST 300 is a dependable instrument for determining coating/substrate adhesion, surface scratch resistance, and conventional Vickers hardness.
Both conventional Vickers hardness tests with automatic imprint recognition and a multitude of testing modalities for scratch tests are made possible by the software. Having sold more than 1500 Revetest® equipment, Anton Paar is the industry leader in scratch testing.
Force measurement up to 200 N
Compliant with ASTM C1624, ISO 20502, and ISO EN 1071
Coating adhesion, scratch resistance, conventional Vickers hardness
Full panoramic image is synced with penetration depth, friction force, and acoustic emission
Automatic Vickers hardness tests
Key Features
Patented Synchronized Panorama Mode
This function is specific to Anton Paar scratch testers. It automatically synchronizes recording all sensor signals so that the scratch image is in perfect focus. This allows the measurement curve to be studied directly parallel to the scratch picture on the same page. Anton Paar owns the patents US 12/324, 237, and EP 2065695 for the synchronized panorama mode.
Measurements on Curved and Uneven Surfaces

The Revetest® scratch system identifies and corrects surface deviations using its unique force sensor control. RST 300 also makes reliable measurements on uneven and curved surfaces by following the shape of the sample while maintaining complete control over the intended load.
Unique Conventional Vickers Hardness Capabilities

This one-of-a-kind capability identifies and quantifies the area of an imprint from a traditional Vickers test, eliminating user impact on the Vickers hardness test results. The RST 300 and other Anton Paar scratch testers are the only ones on the market with enhanced capabilities for traditional Vickers hardness testing.
Compliant with ASTM C1624, ISO 20502, and ISO EN 1071

Anton Paar collaborates closely with standardization groups such as ISO, ASTM, DIN, and others to help customers meet their high expectations for their own products, particularly in quality control, where such standards are frequently required. By properly certifying theproducts, high-quality products and services in terms of safety, dependability, and sustainability can be guaranteed.
High Scratch Measurement Flexibility

Tips with varying diameters and angles are available. Indenter holders are also available for applications that need small diameter spherical tips, Berkovich or Vickers tips, and a diameter of 6 mm. One indenter holder can be used for many types of tips, while one specialized ball holder can be used for various ball materials.
Automatic Detection of Critical Loads
Critical load data is utilized to measure the adhesive qualities of various film-substrate combinations utilizing a variety of sensors (acoustic emission, penetration depth, friction force), as well as video microscope observations. The new software detects all important loads automatically.
The user must choose threshold values and initiate the automated analysis of critical loads (Lc). RST 300 is the only scratch tester on the market that automatically detects critical loads.
