Providing Protection of Your PCR Samples with the PCR-1000-Clean Air Hoods

The PCR Prep Station from Airfiltronix provides continuous protection during the preparation and temporary storage of the user’s PCR sample tubes. Samples and products can be protected from contamination with Class 100 clean air or better. A Dacron prefilter rated 65% efficient at 6 µm and a HEPA filter rated 99.99% efficient at 0.3 µm create a particulate-free work area of better than 100 ppm.

To further decrease the risk of contamination of samples, the prep station includes a 15 watt UV sterilization lamp to destroy any potentially contaminating RNA or DNA. A brushless, high efficiency centrifugal AC motor with dynamically balanced backward curved impeller is mounted inside a vinyl painted steel blower housing. Continuous adjustment of air flow from 30% up to full speed is allowed by the variable speed control.

The enclosure is constructed using UV stabilized acrylic (3/8" clear acrylic side panels and 1/2" clear acrylic top for easy viewing). The hood includes a vertically hinged polycarbonate door. The worksurface is a smooth and white polyethylene surface, which is easy to clean.

Sufficient lighting of the work area is provided by a 15 watt fluorescent lamp. A control switch is provided for both the fluorescent and UV lights. The unit can be manufactured in a wide range of configurations and/or sizes.

The PCR Enclosure mentioned above is provided with one HEPA Filter, HP-2 and one Prefilter, PF-1R.
