HOW WE STARTED

Dr. Amy Prieto started the company with a single goal: make a better battery using a simple process and low-cost sustainable materials. So many battery companies create a battery and then fail at the manufacturing stage. Dr. Prieto, on the other hand, started with the manufacturing process first and worked backwards to produce a battery, to ensure that the battery could actually be scaled and commercialized.

For manufacturing, Dr. Prieto selected water-based electroplating at room temperature because it is a simple, scalable process used for decades in other industries. To make a battery using this process, Dr. Prieto had to reimagine the entire architecture of the battery, resulting in our patented 3D architecture. Our 3D battery is not limited by the inefficiencies of today’s 2D batteries and delivers what matters most – hyper-fast charging, wide temperature operation, and safe.
