Optical Surfaces Ltd offers a wide range of enclosed pre-aligned reflective collimators.Based upon a precision off-axis parabolic mirror these portable systems combine high stability and performance with operator convenience.
The system delivers high stability and performance, which is attained with a zero expansion off-axis parabola, made to comply with standards. Stress-free mounts are used to secure the optics within the instruments and aligned in the laboratories for ideal execution.
A key benefit of these collimators is their achromatic design, which performs at any wavelength from UV to IR.

Precisely Measuring the Quality of Imaging Systems
Optical Surfaces Ltd has announced the delivery of a 235 mm clear aperture reflective collimator to a leading European avionics/defense supplier capable of performing accurate measurement of their imaging systems from the visible to IR range using Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) criteria.
To fulfill the demand for higher quality, higher resolution optical systems for integration into advanced imaging systems, several designers and scientists have opted for MTF measurement as a flexible and precise system characterization tool.
Reflective collimators are optical assemblies capable of taking divergent to convergent incoming light rays and generate parallel light output. The system can be used to mimic a target at infinity without parallax.
Calibration of other optical devices can be performed using reflective collimators, to check the alignment of all elements on the optical axis, to set elements at ideal focus, or to align two or more devices. Reflected collimators are the preferred optical systems for application, including MTF testing.
OSL was selected to produce the reflective collimator due to our willingness to collaborate with the customer to produce an ideal system for their project’. He added ‘Our heritage in supplying high performance off-axis reflecting reflective collimators and beam expanders to customers around the world is unique.
Dr. Aris Kouris, Sales & Marketing Manager, Optical Surfaces Ltd.
The 235-mm clear aperture reflective collimator was manufactured by Optical Surfaces Ltd with the desired quality, output wavefront error better than lambda/5 p-vand an off-axis optical design that produced no central obscuration and delivered highly efficient transmission.
