New JCB 457 HT Front End Loader with Cutting Edge Technology

The JCB 457 HT wheel loader is a highly efficient, productive and durable equipment. The wheel loader can be maintained easily and offers safety, comfort and serviceability, thus proving an ideal all-round package.

All JCB front end loaders feature advanced technology to increase efficiency. The 457 HT has an intelligent clutch cut-off feature that delivers optimum hydraulic performance and also checks the speed of the vehicle at the time of loading. In addition, a variable speed fan, load-sensing hydraulics and automatic idle shutdown are also integrated in the wheel loader.

The 8.9 litre 6 cylinder Cummins QSL engine complies with Stage 3b/Tier 4 standards, This engine helps the 457 HT to generate 18% more torque (1085 Nm) and 16% more power (186 kW) when compared to the earlier 456 version.

The 186 kW Cummins engine in the JCB 457 HT wheel loader is connected to a 4-speed ZF fully automatic powershift transmission to allow stepless gear changes and smooth operation. Additionally, the 457 HT includes three axle options, which comprise automatic locking differentials, limited slip differentials, and open differentials. The HT loader geometry is suitable for multi-attachment use and parallel lift. A revised rear chassis design offers 3.3% extra lift capacity.

The JCB 457 HT offers efficient and precise loader control. The variable displacement pumps in the 457 HT feed a load-sensing valve block, and only consume power on demand. These pumps also offer 326 l/min hydraulic flow for optimum multi-functioning performance. The Smoothride suspension system aids material retention and reduces shock loadings.

The 457 HT has intelligent electronic management to help control progressive clutch cut-off for productive and efficient loader control. This aspect can automatically redirect power to the loader hydraulics for maximum truck and hopper loading duties.

Additionally, the 457 HT features unloaded spool valves, which means the loader arms reduce under gravitational force but not hydraulic force. For improved fuel economy and heat and drag reduction, the 457 HT brakes rotate at the similar speed as the wheels. The wheel loader also employs a series of advanced operator aids to boost efficiency.

Loader control options such as joystick, multi lever and proportional auxiliary controls are available. A switch is provided to disable aids like arm height limitation, return-to-dig and float functions. A laminated front screen, a sloping rear bonnet design and heated exterior mirrors provide excellent visibility.

For operator comfort and safety, the 457 HT includes a number of features like full-colour LCD dash display with analogue dials, spacious 3m³ cabin, automatic temperature control option and integrated ROPS/FOPS protection. The cab is isolator mounted to reduce noise and pressurized to block out dust. The 457 HT wheel loader has gullwing doors to offer easy access to the cooling pack and engine bay areas.

Moreover, the 457 HT has been subjected to a comprehensive development programme to assure its durability. The equipment was tested across 1.2 million cycles and was also field tested in climates varying between -20°C and 50°C. In addition, articulation pins and bushes and large diameter loader feature secondary seals in order to keep out dirt. To reduce service brake wear and subsequent fuel consumption, electronic management system controls tractive effort through the transmission.
