The AlSCAN™ hydrogen analyzer is designed to survive the severe plant environment and is portable.
The analyzer is automated and easy to use. It can also be operated by non-technical floor personnel. The unit works autonomously without the need for any special attention once it is started.

Principle of Operation
The closed recirculation loop is an established method for monitoring hydrogen in liquid aluminum. A small volume of carrier gas, usually nitrogen, is brought into contact with the melt using an immersed probe that constantly circulates in the closed loop until its hydrogen content reaches equilibrium with the vapor pressure of H2 in the melt.
The H2 concentration in the gas is measured and converted into a reading of the gas concentration in the metal. This method is accurate, fast and reproducible, and can be used “on-line” on the cast shop floor.
The amount of H2 in the gas loop of the instrument is determined by a proprietary thermal conductivity sensor, which provides a broad measurement range and high reproducibility. The analyzer has a built-in microprocessor that controls its operation and processes data.

The AlSCAN™ probes are available in three different versions, adapting its use to a variety of applications.
The three models include:
HME1200D for long immersion and Strontium modified melts
HME0300D for foundry alloys
HME0200D for wrought alloys
Longer probes for each model type are also available.
