Möbius Recycler Condensing Liquid Nitrogen Cooling System: Requires Refilling Every Other Year

The ORTEC Möbius Recycler technology provides “tried and tested” LN cooling of a radiation detector in a system where LN₂ needs refilling approximately once every other year under continuous, normal operating conditions. This is accomplished by the incorporation of the Sunpower^® cryocooler and a custom designed 28 liter liquid nitrogen dewar.

An exceptional strategy is provided by the Möbius Recycler for managing counting laboratories which have periodic power failures. A “smart” cooler controller senses when the Möbius is working on an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and then automatically disables the cryocooler in order to minimize the power drain. This feature permits extended system operation when using UPS systems with a smaller capacity.

Regardless of mains power loss, the predictive “time to empty” LN₂ level monitor provides status. Even though the laboratory may be in the dark, the user will not be, when it comes to knowing “time to empty” of the LN₂ dewar.

Möbius is now available in a top load configuration for horizontal and vertical cryostats and with a side-looking or J-type cryostat.
