Matmatch

Matmatch is the largest free materials database in the world. Founded by a family-owned metals manufacturer and incubated by Boston Consulting Group Digital Ventures, Matmatch is the most comprehensive knowledge base and material sourcing platform for engineers, researchers, and manufacturers.

If an engineer is looking for the correct material to manufacture satellite components, they can just input a term like “materials with a density < 4500 kg/m³ used for satellite components and available in Germany” into the Matmatch search, which will then provide a set of materials that would be a good fit. After that, the engineer can compare the properties of materials side-by-side, share them with their team, and select and source suppliers that actually carry the materials.

Engineers can also search by mechanical, thermal and chemical properties to discover more materials matching their requirements.
