Manta Biofuel is a US-based fuels and fine chemicals company. Early in the company's history, Manta searched for a cost-effective source of magnetite nanoparticles for its renewable fuel production process. Frustrated at the lack of cost-effective products in the marketplace, the company developed their own low-cost, high purity nano-magnetite production process. This product is now available for purchase in gram to multi-ton volumes.Magnetite nanoparticles supplied by Manta Biofuel are colloidal iron-oxide particles that exhibit superparamagnetic and ferromagnetic properties.

Magnetite nanoparticles can be used for applications in many fields including soil and water remediation, catalysis, biosensors, ferrofluids, anti-contaminant polymers, magnetic separations and MRI contrasting agents.
