Fast and reliable identification of microorganisms is a key task in microbiology. Classical biochemical techniques that detect different metabolic properties of microorganisms typically take hours or even days and often lack specificity. Increased Speed and Confidence
MALDI Biotyper systems provide high-speed, high-confidence identification and taxonomical classification of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. Classification and identification are based on proteomic fingerprinting using high-throughput MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Numerous studies have demonstrated the higher accuracy, faster time-to-results, and lower costs provided by MALDI Biotyper systems compared to classical methods.
Changing Clinical Microbiology
The MALDI Biotyper system has become the method of choice for routine identification in clinical microbiology laboratories worldwide. In addition to the RUO version, a U.S. FDA-cleared MALDI Biotyper CA System and IVD-CE (according to EU directive EC/98/79) version are also available. The MALDI Biotyper has medical device registrations in numerous other countries.
