Libra Series for Enhanced Thermogravimetric Analysis

The TG 309 Libra® Classic stands out as the top performer in affordability and functionality among the devices in the Libra® series. It is the perfect tool for quality assurance. The Classic provides a temperature range of 10 °C to 1025 °C. Furthermore, a 20-position Automatic Sample Changer (ASC) can be installed.

Get Results Faster Without a Baseline Run

A baseline run is usually carried out under identical test conditions regarding heating rate, gas type, and gas flow to guarantee accurate mass change values.

The baseline allows for the subtraction of instrument and buoyancy effects from the sample measurement by accounting for variables like heating rate, crucible type, and geometry.

When using the integrated BeFlat® baseline run for typical temperature measurements, the TG 309 Libra® eliminates the need for a separate baseline run. Tests are expedited considerably as a result.

20 Times Faster Thanks to High Heating Rates

There is a low-volume furnace on the TG 309 Libra®. It allows for quick ballistic cooling from 1025 °C to room temperature and fast heating rates of up to 200 K/min across the temperature range. This enables shorter turnaround times for analysis results, even at elevated temperatures, in minutes.

Measuring Principle

Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is an exact analytical method that monitors changes in a sample's mass over time and/or temperature in a defined and regulated environment, such as crucible type, flow rate, gas atmosphere, heating rate, etc.

It is capable of precisely detecting weight variations as small as a microgram. Because of its great sensitivity, even the smallest alterations to a material’s chemical and physical characteristics can be detected.

Compact 20-Sample ASC on a Removable Sample Carousel

The affordable TG 309 Libra® Classic can come with an optional automatic sample changer (ASC) capable of handling up to 20 samples and references. After the crucible has been safely removed from the magazine, the gripper gently places it on the sensor. A detachable ASC insert can be placed in the samples to prepare them away from the instrument.

Users can examine the distinct thermal characteristics of materials and their constituent parts.

The Libra® series instrument offering the most variety is the TG 309 Libra®Select. Users can choose between temperature ranges of 10 °C to 1025 °C or up to 1100 °C. It provides exceptional balance resolution to identify even the smallest changes in a material's mass. It can also befitted with a sizable 204-position ASC (Automatic Sample Changer) and the capability to couple to gas analysis.
