The Lake Shore 372 AC resistance bridge has an advanced design to cater to the needs of ultra-low temperature applications as several material characterization experiments require measurements to be conducted at cryogenic temperatures.
Material behavior alterations can be witnessed and background thermal noise can be reduced at these temperatures to obtain useful measurement data.
The device is capable of providing the most ideal temperature measurement and control capabilities for dilution refrigerators (DRs) which are meant for operation below 100mK. Additionally, it also has stable temperature control input and multiple heater options.
The 372 AC resistance bridge also provides innovative impedance measurement capabilities such as quadrature measurement for identifying reactive parts of a load.
This device can be coupled with the optional Lake Shore 3708 scanner to reduce input noise to a greater extent so as to provide even higher measurement resolutions than is possible with just the Model 372.
Model 372 AC Resistance Bridge & Temperature Controller: Overview
This makes the Lake Shore 372/3708 combination a highly suitable choice for low-power cryogenic material characterization activities.
When using three Model 372 units, for example, researchers can now run up to five measurement experiments in parallel.
In this setup, you can get excellent readings from different samples at the same time – without the risk of interference. This can be particularly useful if your experiment moves quickly and you aren’t given enough time to scan through separate measurement points individually.

Plus the instrument now uses cubic-spline interpolation, a better method for calculating temperature values with calibrated sensors. This type of interpolation ensures that first and second derivatives are continuous across the entire temperature curve.
Compared with linear interpolation, it’s a more accurate way to calculate equivalent temperature values and can reduce interpolation error by as much as 0.2 mK.
