In 1995 the engineering staff at integrated endoscopy (ie) discovered a new technology which they believe will revolutionize the endoscopy and boroscopy marketplaces around the world. In 1998 ie licensed its patented technology for reusable medical endoscopes to the world leader in arthroscopy and is the exclusive manufacturer for those scopes. Developed by Jan Hoogland who heads ie 's research efforts, this new design simplifies and improves the efficiency and hence the cost of building superior high resolution endoscopes and borescopes for applications in medicine and industry.

The founders of ie bring a wealth of experience in micro optics design and fabrication to this rapidly expanding industry. The first of the family of new technology scopes to be introduced is a part of the VIP video inspection system . This complete system is built around an industrial borescope and a pen sized handpiece which can easily be used to take a microscope/borescope to wherever the need exist. Early this year ie introduced its new line of borescopes and video equipment. These scopes are similar to the high quality scopes used in medicine.

ie has introduced into the marketplace a new line of hand-held or bench mounted video inspection equipment for use in industry or science. Both the video inspection pen (VIP) and the Borescope Inspection Systems function as video inspection instruments or a video microscopes and either system is easily converted to a bench type high magnification video microscope with magnification to 1000X.
