InfraCal 2 Model TRANS-SP From Spectro Scientific

The InfraCal 2 TRANS-SP is ideal for measuring oil in water, total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in soil, or fats, oils, and grease (FOG) in wastewater concentration levels. It utilizes traditional EPA methods 413.2 and 418.1, or ASTM method D7066-04, along with a range of solvents such as Freon-113, hydrocarbon-free grade of perchloroethylene, AK-225, S-316, or other spectroscopic infrared transparent solvents for extraction.

The extracted sample is deposited into a 10 mm quartz cuvette cell with a Teflon stopper, which retains light end volatile components for accurate measurement. The analyzer provides precise results down to 0.1 ppm.

The newest addition to the line of user-friendly analyzers, the InfraCal 2 TRANS-SP, has additional features like data storage and transfer, multiple calibrations, and password protection for instrument settings. It utilizes the same measurement technology as the original InfraCal Model CVH.

Operating Principle

The InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzer capitalizes on the principle that hydrocarbons, such as oil and grease, can be extracted from water or soil using the appropriate technique and solvent. At a particular wavelength, the extracted hydrocarbons absorb infrared energy, and the amount of energy absorbed is proportional to the solvent's oil and grease concentration. The analyzer can be calibrated to directly display readings in the desired units.
