High Pressure, High Temperature (HTHP) Cell for FTIR Spectroscopy

The High-Temperature High-Pressure (HTHP) Cell Accessory offered by Specac is a multipurpose cell developed for the FTIR analysis of solid samples in decomposition, transmission, or specular reflectance modes.

Users can achieve sample temperatures up to 800 °C. The HTHP Cell can function at pressures from vacuum (0.1 torr) to 1000 psi for in-situ reaction studies.

Transmission Spectroscopy with Sample Disks or Cups

The regular HTHP Cell can be used for decomposition spectral analysis of gases produced from a solid sample retained in a sample cup just under the beam height, or for transmission analysis of disks measuring 13 mm in diameter.

An alternative baseplate configuration, including transfer optics, and with one of the normal window housings substituted with an angled window housing assembly, facilitates spectral reflectance measurements.

The components needed for this conversion are either provided as an upgrade kit or available as standard, provided the HTHP Cell has been ordered as the advanced version (GS 05855). For purging or gas flow purposes, gas connections are provided on the cell.

Corrosion-Resistant, Vacuum-Compatible

The HTHP Cell is developed mainly from materials that are vacuum-compatible and impervious to corrosion. As standard, silicone seals and ZnSe windows are utilized, but other window materials and seals are also available. A dedicated power controller helps in controlling the accessory’s temperature.
