Sol™ 2.6—a high-performance linear InGaAs array spectrometer from B&W Tek—offers a wide dynamic range, 256 pixelsand high throughput, TE cooling down to −15 °C through an integrated three-stage cooler.
All spectrometers are equipped with an SMA 905 fiber optic input and an integrated 16-bit digitizer. The instruments are USB 2.0 plug-and-play compatible.
Furthermore, the integrated autozero function automatically decreases dark current and dark non-uniformity, leading to a better signal-to-noise ratio. Through software control, users can select from four kinds of operation modes—that is, Maximum Sensitivity, Maximum Dynamic, High Sensitivityand High Dynamic. Custom-made spectral resolution and application support are also provided.

Thermoelectric Cooler
An effective method to decrease noise and dark current is to cool an array detector with an integrated thermoelectric cooler (TEC). This method also helps improve the detection limit and dynamic range.
When the TEC is used to cool the InGaAs array detector from a room temperature of 25 °C down to −15 °C, the dark current is decreased by around 32 times, while the dark noise is decreased by around 5.7 times. This enables the spectrometer to work at longer exposure times and to identify weaker optical signals.
