Lake Shore’s 475 DSP Gaussmeter
Lake Shore’s Model 475 digital signal processor (DSP) based Hall effect gaussmeter is equipped with unique digital signal processing technology that allows for its ability to produce high precision magnetic field measurements.
More specifically, the technology behind the Model 475 creates a solid foundation for accurate, stable and repeatable field measurements to be taken while simultaneously enabling the gaussmeter to offer users with an unequaled set of useful measurement features. Useful for some of the most demanding DC and AC applications, the Model 475 provides the advanced functionality that is typically associated with two or more instruments within a single field measurement system.
The power of DSP technology is demonstrated in the superior performance of the Model 475 in DC, RMS, and Peak measurement modes. Furthermore, this system is equipped with both hardware and firmware elements that facilitate automated materials analysis. With a built-in PI control algorithm, the Model 475 functions as an essential building block for magnetic field control in electromagnet systems.
When combined with a voltage-programmable magnet power supply, the Model 475 can easily control stable magnetic fields in an electromagnet at the user-specified setpoint. In fact, one of the built-in analog voltage outputs of this system supports the program input of the power supply for either bipolar or unipolar operation.
The Model 475 has an IEEE-488 interface that is capable of sending readings in binary format, which is more preferred than the common ASCII format. As a result, interface overhead is reduced to ultimately provide users with real-time reading rates of up to 100 new readings per second. Note that temperature compensation is not available at the highest interface rate.
