Due to size and shape-dependent quantum effects, gold nanoparticles display unique surface plasmon resonance absorption, scattering, fluorescence, and photothermal properties, making them well-suited for a range of applications such as catalysis, chemical sensing, biosensing, cellular and bioimaging, drug and gene delivery, and photothermal therapy.
The fluorescent labeling of gold nanoparticles has been found to cause enhancement in theemission of fluorophores, makingfluorescence-tagged gold nanoparticles a dual-mode nanoprobe for drug delivery and bioimaging applications.
