Fraunhofer WKI Hanover

The Fraunhofer WKI's “Application Center for Wood Fiber Research HOFZET^®“ is located in Hanover. The scientists of the HOFZET^® develop hybrid (bio) fiber composites with thermoplastic and thermoset matrices. Focus is thereby placed upon the higher-grade use of natural fibers and derivatives for technical applications in various sectors, such as the automotive, construction and environmental industries. Organizationally, the HOFZET^® is incorporated into Fraunhofer WKI as a department.

Application Center for Wood Fiber Research HOFZET

15 permanent employees are engaged at the HOFZET^®, 13 of whom are scientists. Around 1,300 square meters of offices, laboratories, technical center and open-air space are available for the execution of research contracts.

The research and development work is carried out in close cooperation with the “IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites“ of the Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The two institutions share the state-of-the-art technical center at the Campus Ahlem.
