Manufacturer ofSteel Bonded TitaniumCarbide Parts & Components
In the late 1950’s research was conducted into developing a light weight, wear resistant material for use in the manufacture of jet engine turbine blades. Titanium carbide (TiC) was added to various materials in order to achieve the desired properties.
An offshoot of that research was the discovery that adding TiC to tool steel resulted in a machinable, heat treatable, wear resistant material.
In 1956 the Sintercast Division of Chromalloy Corporation was founded. Soon after, the Ferro-Tic name was trademarked and production of the original Ferro-Tic alloy, Grade C, began. In its early stages Grade C was used in the fabrication of punches, dies, drill bushings and gages. Grade C is still the material of choice for many of the same applications today.
