TA Instruments provides a range of tools for measuring thermal diffusivity up to 1200°C using the flash method. This method enables the measurement of specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity of materials with numerous thermal properties.
All the tools from TA Instruments are provided with multi-specimen testing capability, thereby enabling improved productivity and enhanced specific heat capacity measurements. The tools are capable of full time pulse mapping, precision optics, and current data analysis, thus making the Discovery Flash platform a very precise system.
The Discovery Flash data analysis software consists of current methods for heat loss corrections. The Clark and Taylor method is used as the most precise basic purpose procedure for regulating thermal diffusivity based on the radiation heat losses, finite pulse width, and non-isothermal local sample conditions. There are more than 20 different analysis models and correction programs integrated into the software, thus providing maximum precision for all types of materials.
Available Models Include
Clark and Taylor
Moment
Degiovanni
Cowan
Koski
Least Squares
Logarithmic
Heckman
Parker
The detector used in the tools is designed specifically to suit the operating temperature range of the Environmental Module. In the case of moderate-to-high-temperature measurements, an indium antimonide (InSb) IR detector is used. The IR detector can be cooled with liquid nitrogen so as to ensure stable output and high repeatability.
Key Features
The main features of TA Instruments’ flash diffusivity systems are as follows:
Unparalleled precision of pulse-shape and pulse-width correction calculations and the most accurate determination of the t0
High sensitivity. quick response sensors
Precise measurement of transient temperature changes
Detector is factory-aligned to the sample and does not involve user exchange or alignment
Flash method is widely accepted and is documented in ASTM E2585, ASTM E1461, DIN EN821, DIN 30905,
