Direct Electron was founded in 2007 with the specific aim of developing and delivering ultra-high performance cameras for electron microscopy (EM). Direct Electron designs, manufactures, and delivers next-generation direct detection cameras for electron microscopy.

Ultimately, our technology empowers customers to achieve better science, faster. Our pioneering Direct Detection Device (DDD^®) camera technology expands the frontiers of what is possible and gives our customers a competitive edge.

Direct Electron continues to aggressively push the boundaries of EM camera technology. Our research and development springs out of partnerships between public organizations, academia, and industry. For example, our pioneering Direct Detection Device was developed in collaboration with the University of California San Diego (UCSD) with generous support from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH).
