Almost any alloy/base plate combination can be provided, with base plate thicknesses 3-30 mm and overlay thicknesses typically 2-17 mm. Double-sided alloy can be supplied in all thicknesses if needed. Although S235JR (St 37-2) is the standard base plate, any weldable steel, including stainless and CrMo grades, can be used.

Chromium carbide overlay plate wear performance is a function of hardness andrelies upon a densely packed primary chromium carbide microstructure. MAStough’s microstructure has been improved to balance impact and abrasion resistance.

With minor additions of manganese and other elements, the material has a high chrome alloy overlay with a nominal composition of 4.5 % C and 32 % Cr, attaining a microstructure and hardness of 60–63 HRC.

Any weldable steel, including chrome molybdenum and stainless steel, can serve as the substrate for the plate. Brackets and flanges can be added to the substrate utilizing conventional fabrication methods.
