Boron Nitride Nanotubes (BNNTs)

Boron nitride nanotubes, abbreviated as BNNTs, are essentially close structural analogs of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and exhibit the same inherent properties, like sophisticated mechanical properties.

Besides this, BNNT materials offer several benefits, like a wide bandgap, large stark effect, and improved thermal stability. Such materials are an excellent option as reinforcement in metals, ceramics, and polymers, thanks to their material stiffness as well as chemical stability. BNNT materials have optical characteristics that show favorable transmittance across a wide wavelength.

BNNTs are well-suited for nanoelectronics and photovoltaics, and can also be used as an additive in metallic and polymeric composites. They have no cytotoxicity, which renders them a viable material for diagnostics, biomedical, and therapeutic applications.
