Founded in 1977, Biospherical Instruments Inc. (BSI) is a small, privately owned, research-oriented company that designs and manufactures scientific instrumentation for environmental monitoring. Over the past two decades, BSI has established an international reputation as a leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art optical instruments for the oceanographic, atmospheric, water quality, and biological sciences communities. BSI's products include specialized UV and visible wavelength radiometers for use in aquatic environments, atmospheric UV radiation monitoring systems, and commercial water quality monitoring systems.

Our aquatic and atmospheric instruments have been deployed by researchers in all the world's oceans and in some of the most extreme environments on Earth -- Antarctica and the Arctic. Our aquatic instruments are used for a wide range of oceanographic and limnologic research, ranging from ocean color/remote sensing and primary productivity studies to military underwater communication and visibility research. Our atmospheric UV radiometers are used by researchers worldwide for monitoring UV radiation and studying stratospheric ozone depletion.
