The BI-DNDC—a deflection-type refractometer from Brookhaven Instrument—has been designed for use in GPC/SEC or batch mode. The increment in specific refractive index, dn or dc, is established in batch mode.
This value is needed as a parameter in molecular weight measurements using light scattering. The dn/dc is already known in GPC/SEC modeand the instrument is utilized as a concentration detector for SEC or GPC applications.
All significant features can be programmed by users to obtain the highest flexibility. The BI-DNDC refractometer can be configured through the front panel controls and can be read through an external computer or the LED readout.
The BI-DNDC refractometer features a microprocessor, which makes it easy to handle all functions of the instrument. It also allows users to transfer refractive index and temperature data to a personal computer through a regular serial interface.
Most significantly, the BI-DNDC requires a warm-up time of just one hour, which is relatively less when compared to the other commercially available models.
