Benchtop Tester for Tension, Compression, Flexure, and Shear

The models 1 ST and 5 ST from Tinius Olsen are built for compression, tension, flexure, and shear strength testing on assemblies and materials. The sturdy design that includes quality materials and components guarantees that the company’s reputation for excellent system performance, longevity, and ease of use is upheld. A range of loadcells is available in varying capacities that offer precise applied load measurements from the smallest test specimen to ones that go to maximum machine capacity. Test machines become complete, robust test systems with the incorporation of grips to hold the specimen, strain measurement instrumentation and Tinius Olsen’s Horizon Data Analysis software.

Model 1 ST - Ideal for tension, flexure, shear, compression, and other tests to a full force of 1 kN/200 lbf

Model 5 ST - Suitable for compression, tension, flexure, shear and other tests to a maximum force of 5 kN/1000 lbf

Single column design allows economical, compact, and easy testing

Meets or exceeds the requirements of international and national standard for materials testing systems

Four full-length T slots integrated into the machine column to allow accessories to be firmly mounted to the test frame

Different system interface options are available, from an accustomed tethered handheld interface, a wireless Bluetooth interface panel operating an Android application, or virtual machine controller application running on a PC. All interfaces run with Horizon Data Analysis software

Integral pneumatic distribution ports provide local air supply to pneumatic grips

Options and Accessories

Test frame can be stretched by up to 254 mm/10” to increase test area size1

Grips and fixtures can easily be steadily mounted with a simple locking pin, which also allows simple and quick changes

Tinius Olsen’s Horizon software can be linked to the tester by the operator

Complete range of precision extensometers and deflectometers are available using video, encoder, laser, strain gage and/or LVDT technologies

Tinius Olsen's Benchtop Tester for Tension, Compression, Flexure, and Shear – Model 1 and 5 ST

Familiar handheld interface that is tethered to the machine. With its larger, tactile, sealed keypad, this interface is ideal for operators who use gloves to load and unload specimens and prefer a push button keypad. It requires virtual machine control software running on a connected PC to operate the basic machine functions and report basic numerical test data.Wireless handheld interface that is connected to the machine by a Bluetooth link. The interface features an Android-based operating platform and can be used to control the machine by itself or in conjunction with Tinius Olsen’s Horizon softwareModel 5ST
