Ever since it was founded in 1996, Bartels Mikrotechnik GmbH has had a clear philosophy: to transfer the innovative power of microfluidics into industry. This is because the high-precision handling of minute quantities of liquid or gas in the smallest possible space enables microfluidics to offer the promise of considerable innovation potential in product and production systems – and demands just as much know-how.

As a result, the Dortmund based company started at an early stage to regard itself as a hi-tech partner to its industrial customers. Initially it was severely restricted to the burgeoning bio-genetic industry, but now Bartels operates far beyond these barriers, reaching far into medical and pharmaceutical technology, in mechanical engineering, and the conventional consumer goods industry: very successfully, it should be added.

Industrial customers all over the world, even those with no microtechnological know-how of their own, now also make use of the key MST technology as a competitive advantage in their markets. Like Bartels, they believe in the crucial advantage conferred by microtechnology. With 30 highly qualified employees the company offers in two main divisions mainly plastic-based MEMS services and microfluidic components as micro pumps or microvalves for industry.
