Radiant Vision Systems’ Flat Panel Display (FPD) conoscope lens makes it easier to assess the angular distribution of brightness, color, and contrast for displays and display components in high-resolution photoscopy.
Radiant Vision Systems maps each emitting spot to an image sensor using Fourier optics, allowing each pixel to correspond to a distinct emission angle. A single measurement to ±70° captures the whole cone of view angle data from the conoscope lens.
This makes the system perfect for R&D initiatives as well as in-line production quality control because it provides quick, accurate results. The lens works well with backlights and a wide variety of FPD types, including those that rely on OLED and LCD technologies.
High-Resolution Angular Measurement
An angular resolution of 0.05° per image sensor pixel is provided by the conoscope lens. The conoscope lens can measure radiance, CIE chromaticity coordinates, brightness, angular contrast, and Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) with excellent accuracy at every view angle when used in conjunction with the ProMetric® Y Photometer or I Colorimeter.

Seamless Evaluation from R&D to Production Lines
Concurrently, the FPD conoscope lens measures view angles to ±70°. The camera and lens set, designed to mount directly on a ProMetric camera, is available for a fraction of the price of alternative options and has simpler and smaller hardware than typical goniometric measurement systems for research and development.
The FPD conoscope lens solution is ideal for in-line display examination during the production phase because of its tiny form factor and speed. In accordance with display view angle performance data, it provides real-time pass/reject operations, eliminates subpar quality components from the line, and identifies quality trends prior to a significant loss of materials.
Customers can use Radiant Vision Systems' cameras in production and research and development environments with the FPD conoscope lens accessory. They record corresponding view angle measurements for ongoing assessment of displays during the full product lifespan, from initial characterization to quality assurance.
Mount to ProMetric Photometers and Colorimeters
With the aid of a specially made bracket, the FPD conoscope lens can be mounted directly on a ProMetric Y Imaging Photometer or ProMetric I Imaging Colorimeter. The most effective way to assess view angle performance with a small, turnkey camera solution that requires little setup, integration time, or skill is to place the lens directly on a ProMetric imaging colorimeter or photometer.
ProMetric Software is also included with the FPD conoscope lens and ProMetric camera system, which are components of the ProMetric line of imaging photometers and colorimeters. A powerful software suite called ProMetric handles image processing, equipment control, and data collection.
The software supports a wide range of data processing and display functions, including bitmaps, isometric plots, radar plots, cross-section graphs, and CIE color plots. It also enables intuitive camera configuration and customizable measurement parameters.
The program facilitates flexible measurement parameters and easy camera configuration. It also offers extensive data analysis and display.
