Epsilon’s 3575 extensometers are designed for general purpose transverse or diametral strain measurement on axially loaded specimens. This model can be used simultaneously with the Model 3542 axial extensometer.
The 3575 extensometers are self-supporting on the test sample, and will work on any diameter or width specimen from 0 to 1” (25 mm). They are typically used for the measurement of Poisson’s ratio, for transverse measurement with anisotropic materials like many composites, and for sheet metal testing such as r-value determination. Frequently, these extensometers are used simultaneously with Epsilon’s axial extensometers.
The units can be easily clipped onto the sample and are held in place with an integral spring. Rounded contact edges helps to maintain the position on the specimen. They are all high accuracy strain gaged units and are compatible with a most test controllers.
The Model 3575 extensometers are strain gaged devices, which makes them compatible with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers. Quite often these extensometers are connected to a test machine controller. The signal conditioning electronics for the extensometer is usually included with the test machine controller or may often be added.
In this case, the extensometer in delivered with the right wiring and connector to plug directly into the electronics. Epsilon can offer a range of solutions for systems that do not have the required electronics. This enables the extensometer output to be connected to chart recorders, data acquisition boards or other equipment.
Epsilon extensometers are compatible with almost every brand of test equipment and can be supplied with the right connector to plug in directly, or come with a separate conditioner and amplifier.
The company has 20+ years history of service for the materials testing community and will be there to stand behind their products when the user’s critical application requires it.
Epsilon provide 36 Extensometer models in thousands of variations, and their focus on helping customers has resulted in the development of models to cover almost any test method.
Features
The key features of the Model 3575 extensometers are as follows:
May be left on through specimen failure
All models will measure both positive and negative displacements
Full bridge, 350 ohm strain gaged design for compatibility with virtually any test system
All standard units have linearity readings of 0.20% or better
Rugged, dual flexure design for strength and improved performance. Much stronger than single flexure designs, this also allows cyclic testing at higher frequencies
Suitable for measuring Poisson’s ratio per ASTM E132 with most materials and specimens
High quality foam lined case and spare set of tool steel knife edges are provided
Self-supporting on the specimen
Easy to mount, with integral springs to keep the extensometer on the sample
Specifications
The key specifications of the Model 3575 extensometers are as follows:
Excitation: 5 to 10 VDC recommended, 12 VDC or VAC maximum
Linearity: ≤0.20% of full scale measuring range, depending on model
Output: 2 to 4 mV/V, nominal, depending on model
Specimen size: Works with samples up to 25 mm (1”) width or diameter
Temperature range: Standard (-ST) is -40 °C to +100 °C (-40 °F to 210 °F)
Cable: Integral, ultra-flexible cable, 2.5 m (8 ft) standard
