SASP 可以与所有细菌 DNA 结合，无论 DNA 序列如何。DNA 的自发突变，或输入新的 DNA 并赋予细菌细胞新的特性，是细菌产生抗生素耐药性的关键途径。这两种策略都不会影响 SASP 结合和灭活细菌 DNA 的能力。
